Ten Year's Ago...UK Would Lose A Future Cat
With all this electricity going on about Coach Cal and the new recruits coming in and the excitement for next season, I got to thinking. As a youngster I would watch The Cats with my dad all the time, and I can remember sitting there watching the eleven clock news as a nine year old boy and LEX 18 had a breaking news story about UK basketball and when that happened my dad dropped everything to see what was going on. The breaking news was the passing of John Stewart. John Stewart had committed to the University Of Kentucky, and was suppose to fill in for Jamal Magloire, he had the potential to be the next big man at the University. John Stewart, 18 at the time played for Lawrence North High School and collapsed right on the court during the game. The cause of his death was diagnosed as a black heart. I wanted to post this because I feel like as UK fans, we can get caught up in the moment and forget about all the sad and bad times. Though, remembering John Stewart and what he could have been just has to make these new recruits thankful for being able to even play or step foot on UK campus for pick up games. John Stewart was known as an athletic big man but never got the chance to put his athletic ability on display. So all these incoming freshmen be thankful for the chance to even be able to play college basketball.
